That consolidation could end much sooner than I thought, as gold’s moving back toward $2,000 right now.

Gold’s up again today — and this might invalidate everything I’ve been telling you.

You’ll remember that I’ve been predicting that gold will trade sideways, in a price range as it consolidates the last rally.

My reasoning is sound: After an initial, $300 rally after the Covid crisis hit, gold traded in a range from mid-April to late June.

Then, beginning in July, it took off on another $300 run…before beginning what I’ve maintained will be a similar period of consolidation.

However, gold has demonstrated a remarkable resilience. It’s seemed to me that there’s a deep and powerful undercurrent of demand from around the world — likely involving institutions and funds shifting allocations toward gold and silver — that comes in to buy the metals on any price decline.

The bottom line is that gold has refused any significant price correction and, while it could still trade in a range for some time, I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if it takes off on another blistering move to new, much higher levels.

Everything about this gold bull market, and the fiscal and monetary response to the crisis, has been time-compressed.

Today, for example, gold was up nearly $25 early on…and silver was rocketing to nearly $29…before giving up some of those gains.
