The Exploration Story Made For This Market | |
If news flow is the mother’s milk of junior mining exploration, Contact Gold (C.V; CGOL.OTC) is poised to deliver an exciting year for its shareholders.
In a gold market that has put Contact’s shares on sale, its plans to generate near-continuous drill results in 2021 make this the perfect time to own this Nevada-focused explorer.
| | |
In a gold bull market, companies need to stay on investors’ radars.
And the best way to do that is generate a steady stream of positive news flow.
Exploration companies, in particular, do best when they keep the market aware of the work they are doing on their core projects. And when that work is delivering great drill results, the more the better.
In that respect, Contact Gold (C.V; CGOL.OTC) is about to deliver an exciting year for its shareholders.
Not only does it have a backlog of assays from a 2020 drill program that it will deliver during the days and weeks just ahead, but it also plans to keep drilling up throughout the summer and fall.
And here’s the best part: Contact’s Green Springs project, located as it is in Nevada (land of elephant-sized gold deposits) looks primed to deliver solid results to the market for the balance of the year.
Fortunately for potential investors in this story, the temporary weakness in the gold market has put Contact Gold in the bargain bin.
But with gold due for a strong rebound on the back of another wave of government stimulus, the company likely won’t stay this cheap for very long.
Green Springs:
Shallow Gold With Great Grades
Indeed, a rise in Contact’s share price seems almost inevitable as it releases more drill results from its 2020 program at Green Springs.
Located on the southern end of Nevada’s prolific Cortez Trend, this project was mined historically as an open-pit.
It had produced only 74,000 ounces of valuable oxide gold. And that’s a good thing, because recent drilling by Contact indicates that long widths of mineable-grade gold remain at Green Springs.
The project’s Echo target alone has provided proof that more oxide gold remains here, with assays that include:
• 35.1 meters of 2.2 g/t gold
• 28.9 meters of 2.2 g/t gold
• 24.3 meters of 1.5 g/t gold
• 70 meters of 2.4 g/t gold
• 39.6 meters of 5.1 g/t gold
Those wide intervals of oxide gold, which begin near-surface, demonstrate Green Springs’ ability to grow just by expanding the known oxide areas on the project.
New Discovery Opens 1.4 Kilometers Along Main Trend
Better still, a recent hole drilled on the Zulu target, located 200 meters to the south of Echo, indicates the main mineralized trend at Green Springs may extend for another 1.4 kilometers south of Zulu.
Hole 20-05 at Zulu cut 25.9 meters of 1.14 g/t oxide gold and began relatively near to the surface. Contact’s management team is so encouraged by this hit, they plan to follow up on it aggressively in the next round of drilling.
That’s one source of potentially market-moving news that we can expect.
But yet another area to watch is on the north side of the trend, where the deeper “Pilot’s Shale” layer at Green Springs comes to the surface and has evidenced oxide gold on the Bravo and Alpha targets.
Contact believes this layer extends at depth under the mined areas further south. It also believes oxide mineralization may extend northeast from Alpha onto the Tango target.
If these theories prove accurate, all bets are off. Simply put — as you can see on the map above — it would open up potential new areas of oxide mineralization on a multi-kilometer scale.
And all of this in Nevada, arguably the world’s most desirable gold region.
More Assays Are On The Way
As it stands, Contact has completed 5,785 meters of drilling in 41 holes at Green Springs and fully 31 of those holes remain at the lab awaiting assay.
These holes were drilled on all zones in the mine trend and include Bravo, Alpha and Golf. That last target is located 1.2 kilometers east of the main trend at Green Springs.
With the drill program as a whole divided into 40% low-risk, historic-hole offsets, 30% deeper tests of that Pilot Shale layer and 30% on “frontier” targets like Tango, Zulu and Golf, the remaining holes from this effort could significantly transform the Contact Gold story.

The Power Of News Flow In A Gold Bull Market
In short, Contact Gold offers investors a gold exploration play with established mineralization to work off of and compelling drilling evidence showing how far this mineralization can grow.
But the timing is important, as the assays from the current program will continue to hit the market over the remainder of the first quarter.
Looking ahead, the company plans to start drilling Green Springs again in February and to keep up a steady drill program through the summer and possibly the fall.
Consider this truism about Nevada: If mineralization is over 1 g/t gold and it’s oxide, it typically gets mined. All indications are that Green Springs may host significant amounts of just this type of gold mineralization…and perhaps much higher grades.
Mineable gold projects in world-class jurisdictions like Nevada are relatively rare, which makes Contact Gold look like a bargain of the first order at current trading levels.
