That’s how much gold the state of Nevada produced just last year, making it one of the world’s most prolific gold districts.
It’s a production level that, in 2019, convinced two of the world’s biggest gold miners, Barrick and Newmont, to join forces in a joint venture called Nevada Gold Mines.
Nevada Gold Mines exploits a number of multi-million-ounce gold deposits along Nevada’s major gold trends. As a result, the infrastructure is very much in place to mine and process new gold as it turns up on these trends.
As you’ll see, this is a very important factor in one special opportunity that has emerged in Nevada.
Contact Gold owns two gold projects along the prolific Carlin and Cortez trends in Nevada.
That opportunity is Contact Gold (C.V; CGOLF.OTC) — a company that boasts not one, but two potential sources of heap-leachable, oxide gold that could be processed (or bought outright) by a larger player in the state.
As you’re about to see, those two projects are both seeing drilling in 2022, and one already has an NI 43-101 compliant gold resource.
With larger players recently buying projects adjacent to both Contact Gold’s core projects, there are would-be buyers for both potentially right next door.
Thanks to gold experiencing a coincident cycle bottom and summertime bottom — driving prices to bargain levels for even the best junior mining companies — you can now own Contact Gold at a small fraction of the price it was trading for only a year ago.
And as you’re about to see, it’s a much better gold play today….

Drill Results On The Way From Green Springs
Located on the southeastern end of the Cortez Trend in Nevada, Green Springs is one of two flagship projects in Contact Gold’s portfolio.
It lies due east of Calibre Mining’s Gold Rock project and southeast of its Pan gold mine. Both those projects host mineralization in the same rock layers as Green Springs.
The Contact Gold project has seen past open-pit mining in two pits in the 1980s. Since then, Green Springs has been tested for more oxide gold, with Contact Gold alone drilling an impressive 16,797 meters in 133 holes since acquiring the project in 2019.
Some of the same rock layers that host gold at Green Springs also host the gold on Calibre Mining’s nearby Gold Rock project and its Pan gold mine.
Of particular interest is the Pilot Shale layer below surface at Green Springs. That layer rises to near surface in the northeast part of the project, providing mineralization for the newly discovered X-Ray and Tango targets.
It also lies below the Chainman Shale/Joana Limestone layer that hosted the original pits at Green Springs.
Based on a hole drilled in the B-C Gap along this trend last year, Contact has evidence that this mineralized layer may undergird the entire, north-south Mine Trend on the project.
Drills have just finished turning to test all three targets and will provide Contact with significant news flow in late-summer and early-fall.
Plus:
A Second Nevada Project
Along A Major Gold Trend
Adding to the potential at Green Springs is Contact’s exciting Pony Creek project along the southeast end of the Carlin Trend.
If you’re looking for one of the best neighborhoods in the world for gold mining…this is it.
Pony Creek adjoins the South Railroad project, which mid-tier producer Orla Mining recently agreed to purchase via an acquisition of Gold Standard Ventures. It’s also on trend from major mines of Nevada Gold Mines.
Pony Creek, home to a 433,000-ounce inferred gold resource, lies south and east of recent takeout target Gold Standard Ventures’ South Railroad project.
Here’s the deal: Pony Creek is no grass-roots exploration target. Contact Gold released an NI 43-101-compliant resource of 433,000 inferred gold ounces for the project earlier this year.
That resource reflects the impressive hit rate at Pony Creek — over 90% of the holes Contact Gold has drilled have hit significant gold.
Better still, the three deposit areas that make up that resource are all open for expansion via the drill bit.
And, indeed, Contact Gold plans to conduct step-out drilling on the Bowl and Stallion targets beginning in late September.
The goal is to have an updated resource by the end of 2022 or early 2023.
Contact Gold has its sights set on a 50% increase in the resource initially, with the upside nearly uncapped from there (there are other promising targets at Pony Creek).
Bottom line: Near surface, oxide gold in Nevada typically gets mined.
With an established resource at Pony Creek and ready evidence of significant, near-surface gold at Green Springs, Contact Gold has precisely the kind of projects that eventually get taken out.
Obviously, Calibre Mining and Orla Mining provide ready-made takeout partners for Contact Gold’s two projects, but remember, this is Nevada, one of the world’s best and safest gold mining jurisdictions.
If the drills continue to turn up near-surface, heap-leachable gold at Pony Creek and Green Springs, a buyer for these projects could emerge at any time.
Right now, the bottoming gold market has handed out a double-fisted opportunity: With Contact Gold trading for a small fraction of its levels in a more-typical market environment, the share price could multiply just as the market normalizes.
Add in a rebound in the gold price…plus the exceptional exploration potential that Contact offers with proven mineralization and targets in the heart of Nevada’s top gold trends…and you have the kind of opportunity that smart investors simply must look into.
In short, you’ll want to do your homework on Contact Gold soon, while it’s still at these bargain-basement levels.
