Sven Larson came a long way to be a free man, from Sweden to the Great Plains of Wyoming. He has found, however, that the ideology of egalitarianism that plagues his home terrain of Scandinavia is alive and well and conquering the land of the free.

A PhD economist and prolific blogger and author based in Cheyenne, Larson’s latest book is The Rise of Big Government: How Egalitarianism Conquered America, available for order and being shipped from October 5. He details how there was a switch in assumptions in the 1960s, away from the welfare state as a last-resort safety net to a form of redistribution, a tool to reverse natural income and wealth inequality.
