The Emergence of Private Governance

The world is getting better, and much of it is thanks to private governance. Sven Schütt, a German visiting scholar with the American Institute for Economic Research, argues that this fact is lost on most people even though they benefit from it every day.
Private rules we agree upon in the digital space—Ebay, Uber, AirBnb—and in the physical world—special economic zones, homeowner associations—are the backbone of our increasingly superior living standards in the 21st century.
