Just The Beginning

This gold market is already spinning out 20-for-one winners.

The good news: The best is yet to come.

It’s hard to believe that gold is up over $100 from the beginning of last month.

That’s because gold has been trading sideways since about mid-April, digesting that amazing rally in the first two weeks of the month. It’s been a typical consolidation over recent trading sessions, and milder than what I would’ve expected.

In fact, after trading lower earlier today, gold’s making a late-session run higher...for the second day in a row. The rebound could be beginning right now.

We’ll know for sure soon. But the important point is to focus on the true driver of gold for now and years to come — the absolutely massive degree of monetary stimulus now being shoveled onto the U.S. and global economies.

Like Nothing Seen Before

The policy response to the Covid-19 pandemic boggles the mind. As I’ve noted, everything I expected to come over the course of years has instead come in days.

And it’s not just the speed, but the degree. I was preaching about how out of control the federal debt was, with $1 trillion deficits back again. But the CBO just predicted that this year’s deficit will reach $3.5 trillion!

And I’ll take the over on that. When was the last time the CBO over-estimated the deficit?

Here’s the scary part: Everything we’ve seen so far is just the beginning. Fed Chairman Powell noted in his post-meeting remarks last week that the Fed is looking to increase their efforts...and he made a rare venture outside his bailiwick to call on Congress and the Trump administration to do even more.

The second phase of the stimulus plan will be subject to more political maneuvering than the first Cares Act, but you can bet that they’re only arguing over who gets what. They aren’t going to haggle over the amount.

It’s a blank-check mentality in Washington right now. They’re going to do whatever it takes, and then more.

And that means gold, silver and mining stocks are going to soar over the months and years ahead.
