Critical metals like zinc and copper are facing a supply crunch. |
As the electrification trend continues to drive demand for these metals, large mines capable of meeting that demand are increasingly harder to find and build. |
This supply-demand imbalance is creating an opportunity for Group Eleven Resources (ZNG.V; GRLVF.OTC), which has made a big zinc discovery called Ballywire in Ireland. |
High-grade massive sulphide has been pierced over 2.6 kilometers already...but the overall trend is six kilometers long, a lot of which may soon turn out to host significant zones of zinc, lead and silver. Then, last month, Group Eleven’s ongoing drill program at Ballywire tagged into rich grades of copper and silver below the known layer of zinc mineralization. That hit sent the company’s share price some 70% higher, as investors began to realize that this growing zinc discovery could also host significant copper and silver (and germanium and antimony) resources as well. |
That would essentially double the size and value potential of an already headline-making discovery. |
But with the drills still turning, another 3.5 kilometers of strike yet to test and the opportunity to extend the parallel copper-silver mineralization at depth, the best days for Group Eleven’s share price are likely directly ahead. |
Following A Compelling Big Picture Theory |
In building a portfolio of zinc exploration projects in Ireland, the company followed a compelling big-picture theory, locking up big land positions at the intersections of major trends, with some good historic drill holes. |

It isn’t widely known outside of the metals industry, but Ireland is a globally significant zinc district, with six large zinc (and copper) mines permitted over the last 60 years. Majors Boliden, Glencore and South32 all have projects in the country. |
In terms of base metals, it is truly a land of giants...and Group Eleven’s projects are right in the midst of them. |
For example, the company’s Ballywire discovery lies directly along trend with Glencore’s massive Pallas Green deposit (45.4 million tonnes of 7.2% zinc and 1.2% lead, inferred), one of the world’s largest undeveloped zinc deposits. Importantly, it also lies precisely at the intersection of the Pallas Green and Rathdowney mineralized trends. |
The Theory Confirmed At Ballywire |
Group Eleven made its discovery at Ballywire in 2022 after considerable work on the target, which is part of the company’s PG West project. Drilled in summer 2022, Hole G11-468-03 was announced in September of that year and hit a broad zone of zinc-lead-silver mineralization over an eye-popping width of 66.0 meters. |
That long intersection featured a number of high-grade hits, including 6.85 meters of 15.4% zinc+lead and 160 g/t silver, including 2.05 meters of 40.8% zinc+lead and 385 g/t silver. |
The hole was a big, 410-meter step-out from Hole G11-468-01, and it was the first hole to encounter rich massive sulphide zones at Ballywire. |

Subsequent drilling over the next three years would allow Group Eleven to trace this zinc-lead-silver mineralization over 2.6 kilometers so far, along a six-kilometer structural trend identified by geophysical surveys. |
The mineralization remains completely open along that trend, so continued drilling may grow Ballywire significantly not only along strike, but also to depth. |
In short, Group Eleven has found Ireland’s most significant zinc-lead-silver discovery in over a decade, and things look like they’re only heating up. |
And Now A Market-Moving Discovery Could Double That Potential |
All of this has been remarkable, but it has just been taken to a new level with the discovery of a deeper, high-grade copper-silver zone that could parallel the upper zinc-lead-silver zone…essentially multiplying all of the potential that Group Eleven had already outlined at Ballywire. |
Announced last month, this copper-silver discovery was made by Hole 25-3552-31, which cut 19.9 meters of 1.46% copper and 356 g/t silver, including 12.0 meters of 2.30% copper and 560 g/t silver including 6.4 meters of 3.72% copper and 838 g/t silver. |
In addition, this hole cut the zinc-lead-silver horizon as well, returning 47.1 meters of 4.5% zinc+lead, including 25.9 meters of 7.4% zinc+lead, including 12.9 meters of 11.0% zinc+lead — all with good silver numbers. The hole managed to extend Ballywire’s mineralized footprint by 65 meters downdip and to return elevated antimony levels as well. |

As you can see from the image above, the copper-silver discovery (green) has the potential to run in parallel underneath the entire zinc-lead-silver layer at Ballywire. Moreover, near-surface calcite bodies spread across the structural zone at Ballywire may mark the presence of high-grade lenses at depth, giving Group Eleven a way to search for additional pods of mineralization along the six-kilometer trend. |
Still In The Early Innings |
The bottom line with Group Eleven is this: The company has made a major new critical metals discovery in the safe mining jurisdiction of Ireland. The share price has just begun to take off, which at this point is merely evidence that the market is paying attention. |
That’s because, if Group Eleven proves up even a fraction of the potential it has outlined so far, the company’s valuation could trade at considerable multiples of today’s still-low levels. |
Drills are turning at this moment to extend that discovery along as much as six kilometers of strike...and to test for the newly found parallel layer of rich copper-silver mineralization at depth. |
With the world short on new deposits of critical metals in accessible locations...and with Ballywire shaping up for possibly the next giant discovery in Ireland...Group Eleven could soon emerge as a prime takeout target. |
As the drills turn with the market watching Group Eleven closely, the time to do your due diligence on Group Eleven Resources is now. |
