Gold’s rebounding today — and silver’s soaring —after Trump’s abandonment of the stimulus negotiations sent the metals tanking yesterday.

President Trump’s tweet yesterday that he was ceasing negotiations on the next stimulus package sent the markets reeling.

It quickly sent gold about $38 lower and led to a 500-point sell-off in the Dow.

But the president’s subsequent 40-some-odd tweets since, including offers to write checks to the American people as soon as the Democrats allow, sent the markets right back up.

There are a couple of lessons to take away from this latest episode….

First, it doesn’t really matter who wins the election as far as the precious metals are concerned. There is zero fiscal restraint remaining in either party and the printing presses are going to keep going “brrrrrrrrr” no matter who wins.

Second, these short-term swings don’t make a scintilla of difference to the long-term view for the metals. And that bigger picture remains one of ever-easier monetary policy for many years to come.

In this environment, everyone needs to have a position in gold and silver to protect their wealth.
