Charles Krauthammer

Over a number of years, Charles Krauthammer had become a staple of the New Orleans Investment Conference. Unlike any other event, he eagerly looked forward to participating every fall, and he often commented on how our audience was his favorite. Amongst them, he was able to relax and share his remarkable wit and wisdom like nowhere else.

Beyond his official presentations, Charles loved to mingle with our attendees in the halls of the conference, posing for photos, joking and sharing stories. He had the unique ability to give everyone around him the sense that they were in the presence of both greatness and a friend.

When Charles announced that his disease was terminal we, along with legions of his friends and admirers, struggled to find the words to describe our feelings. We struggled not only because it’s so hard to adequately describe such a uniquely talented individual…but also because, as is his wont, Charles’ wrote it best himself.

From his letter announcing the sad news:

“…I thank my colleagues, my readers, and my viewers, who have made my career possible and given consequence to my life’s work. I believe that the pursuit of truth and right ideas through honest debate and rigorous argument is a noble undertaking. I am grateful to have played a small role in the conversations that have helped guide this extraordinary nation’s destiny.

“I leave this life with no regrets. It was a wonderful life — full and complete with the great loves and great endeavors that make it worth living. I am sad to leave, but I leave with the knowledge that I lived the life that I intended.”

It is our sincerest hope that Charles has come to understand the impact he has made on so many, and how he has helped advance intelligent, polite discourse in an age when it is so rarely seen.

Charles is widely known through his television appearances and syndicated columns, but relatively few were able to attend his presentations at the New Orleans Investment Conference…and to see his wonderfully personal, delightfully witty side that was only exposed in these more-intimate settings.

To show the Charles that we knew to the world, we are compiling video recordings of his New Orleans Conference presentations and are making them available to anyone and everyone, free of charge or any registration. We will make further recordings available as soon as we are able to compile them.
