Robinhood Adds Shortcut To Invest In Ticker Symbols That Contain Your Initials
Investment app Robinhood has debuted functionality that greatly reduces the time needed for users to invest in companies with ticker symbols containing the initials of their name.
The move comes after a years-long campaign from millennials who grew sick of tracking down the symbols on their own whenever they wanted to buy a “fun stock.” The shortcut gives investors the option of seeing all stocks containing their initials or hitting a button that will automatically buy a randomly generated amount of one of those stocks.
At a press conference to announce the update, Robinhood CEO Vlad Tenev estimated that the change will save young investors a combined 874,000 hours of time a week.
Tenev wrapped up by telling the audience to keep an eye out for another major innovation, as at the request of Robinhood’s core demographic, the company is working on a way to create flavored stocks.
