At the Sotheby’s Contemporary Artifacts auction, the original avocado toast soared past expectations to sell for a whopping $2.3 million dollars.

The sale was immediately denounced by millennials who say the toast is an historic cultural artifact that belongs in a museum, not a private collection. In response, the Tik-Toker who won the auction released a statement promising he will “try not to eat it” but admitting that, “it’s so expensive I may have a bite.”

An NFT version of the toast is on the block(chain) at Christie’s Digital Art Auction next week with forecasters expecting it to sell for at least double the physical object.
