Fed Employee Reminds Children That Money Does Just Grow On Trees
Rich Edwards, a recent hire at the Federal Reserve, went on a substantial spending spree in early May, shortly after starting his new position. Within a week he had purchased $8,000 rims for his Hyundai Elantra, a pony for his daughter Maxine, and a $22,000 pirate-ship-themed tree house for his son Jeremy.
After handing the children blank checks and asking them to write the biggest number they could on them, Maxine, 6, grew concerned and asked, “Daddy, what will happen when you run out of money?”
Sources report Edwards chuckled and called a family meeting, telling his wife, “it’s never too early to teach the kids economics.”
Edwards sat everyone down on the couch and switched to a serious tone, saying, “Listen kids, you have to remember, money does just grow on trees.” He continued, “You can spend money whenever you want without worrying about it. That is how things work.”
Rich wrapped up by asking, “Now who wants to fly first-class to Disney World?” He then threw open the front door to reveal a Hummer limousine idling outside.
